CHIDDY BANG

The notion of ‘traditional hip hop’ has changed forever. Whether you’re talking about genre bending projects from superstars like Kanye West and Lil Wayne or surprising debuts from new artists like Kid Cudi and Drake, Hip Hip has never had a more exciting, expressive moment.
If Hip Hop is reaching a tipping point, and it’s followers are expanding their horizons, it’s Chiddy Bang who serve as the Pied Piper for the freshman set. Chiddy Bang’s principle songwriters, Chidera Anamege and Noah Beresi’s debut was with the infectious and loopy self released mixtape ‘Swelly Express. Sometimes using samples from artists such as MGMT, Passion Pit and even the film ‘Mary Poppins’ for inspiration, Chiddy Bang completely alters the tracks turning them into something of their own.
Chiddy Bang’s infectious sound scored the group a deal with Parlophone/Emi UK. From this they were quickly scooped up by Virgin Records/Emi Music to release Chiddy’s debut album in New Zealand due out end of September 2010. As the confinements of urban music become looser and looser, Chiddy Bang is out to prove that Hip Hop ain’t dead... it’s just ain’t the same.

YOLANDA BE COOL

2010 has been a massive year for these two Australians, what with exclusively signing their releases to Ajax’s Sweat It Out label and a raft of support from some of the scenes biggest players, Yolanda Be Cool are set to dominate the world stages.
Their latest release, a collaboration with DCup, “We Speak No Americano’ has seen the boys reach dizzying heights, quickly climbing the charts straight to Number 1! Their first single ‘Afro Nuts’ was licensed to Fabric 49, (mixed by Buraka Som Sistema), ‘Wax On’ mixed by Fake Blood, ‘Mashed’, mixed by Miami Horror and Beni as well as ‘Neon Essential Vol 2’. All this and an exclusive license to Herve’s Cheap Thrills label, Yolanda Be Cool has quickly become a ubiquitous name.
Yolanda Be Cool. Juxtaposition is everything. Bow ties and converse. Hip Hop and techno. Animal noises and nightclubs. Pretty girls and tattoos. Unused hotel rooms. Or in other words ‘Party Tech’
